So what exactly is Affiliate Marketing? In the offline world, an Affiliate Marketer is more commonly referred to as a “Commission Only Salesman”. And online, it is much the same as an affiliate Marketer basically you are promoting and marketing for other people and their products, in exchange for receiving a commission when you make a sale of the other persons products. A lot of Internet Marketers started their online career as an Affiliate for someone else. Affiliate Marketing when done right can be very lucrative indeed. It’s a “win-win” situation, for both the product owner and “You” as their Affiliate Marketer. Some product owners will happily pay you a commission of up to 100% of the sale price of their product, and all you have to do to receive that commission is to make the sale! Not all Affiliate schemes pay out 100% commissions and more commonly you will find that it’s a 50/50 split, and some of the larger companies will only offer a tiny percentage rate. One of the main reasons Affiliate Marketing is so great is that the product has already been created, there are no customer support issues for you to have to handle. You simply make the sale and walk away with the money. Well that’s the theory – however, we do realise it’s not quite as “black and white” as that and there can be the odd downside to being an Affiliate Marketer, but generally on the whole Affiliate Marketing is GREAT.
