I’M AN INTERNET MARKETING ADDICT!
Today, I’m going public and letting everyone know what I do for a living, along with admitting my addictions, which I’ve kept secret for the past several seasons.
But first, I must admit that I’m an Internet Marketer!
My family, friends, and the people I come in contact with everyday seem to have a difficult time understanding what I do when I say I’m an Internet Marketer. Quite frankly, they wonder how I make my money, and I’m sure some think that I’m surviving on a trust fund or inheritance.
Trying to tell someone what I do can become quite difficult because it’s not as simple as saying I’m a Kirby Vacuum sales person, or I sell insurance. That’s why I decided to write this book, and maybe the same reasons that I had for becoming an Internet Marketer will appeal to you, too. What is an Internet Marketer?
When you’re involved in Internet marketing, you’re a virtual sales person
who can sell or advertise anything, to anyone, anywhere, as long as your customer has Internet access. You don’t need a storefront; all you need is an Internet connection and a computer, or electronic device.
When you market your products and services on the Internet, you can be called an Internet Marketer. You can even be an Internet Marketer and still have a full-time job.
Some people confuse Internet marketing (known as IM) with Multi-Level Marketing (MLM), because they often grimace and say something like, “I’m not into that pyramid buying stuff.” At that point, I explain that I’m an ethical Internet marketer, and I’m not into MLM, nor do I scam people for a living.
Many MLM companies start off by selling you one product, and then they give you an income opportunity. That just means that you can “buy” your way into a sales level or position, and usually the more money you pay results in more perks, benefits, or higher profits and earning levels. That’s not what Internet Marketing is.
Take eBay, Amazon, Etsy, or any number of organizations that allow you to set up an account, and then you can sell products through their Internet business. As long as you’re not just selling something for a one-time sale, then each of the above are examples of Internet Marketing.
But IM is much more than that. It’s marketing a product or service using the Internet that can attract customers that you could never reach with a brick-and-mortar business. Marketing through the Internet opens up a vast world of customers that have the potential to buy your product without ever having met you.
Have you ever ordered something from a company on the Internet?
Maybe the owner placed an ad that you clicked on, or you found the company by typing words into your browser for a specific product.
Sometimes your Internet Marketing products will consist of information that an online customer is seeking as a quick download. At other times, people might want a physical product that you’d ship to them. In both instances, if you gave that business your name and email address, it’s possible that you received a follow-up email or offer, and then a third offer, and so forth.
Now that’s Internet Marketing—selling information and products on the Internet to someone over and over again. As long as you’ve joined their mailing list, you’ll continue to receive their offers. In essence, once you’ve bought something from that company, you’re more likely to buy from them again. Now imagine if you had a business like that.
