This item is a collectible. It is an antique Dutch Jar made of marble. This type of jar was used by the Dutch settlers and plantation owners to store wine. Later Guyanese used them to store fruits to make cakes. The fruits were blended, then mixed with rum to store for a long time.
This jar can be dated back to the early 19th century.
There are very few of these jars in circulation since they are no longer in use, so that's why they are so valuable as collectors' items.
