This is a vintage "homongi" style kimono for women. "Homongi" means "visiting wear" and this kind of kimono was very popular among upper class women in the Meiji era as a formal dress for social occasions. The homongi-style is the most ostentatious kimono for married women and the second most for unmarried women. A homongi kimono may also be worn to tea ceremonies and weddings. The homongi is typically worn with a fukuro obi (drum sash). Every vintage kimono is a unique garment which retains the beauty of a bygone age. When you wear a kimono you will experience the charm of the orient and will be stepping into a more refined and elegant age. This particular vintage kimono is made of woven silk in a restrained, tranquil "maccha" green with a pattern of curving strokes running throughout the weave. Length: 140cm Width: 58cm Distance from the seam in the back of the kimono to the end of the sleeve: 61cm Length of sleeve: 43cm === Please note: Vintage kimono are used items that are between 10 and 100 years old and may show some small signs of fading, wear or staining.
