Nintendo stopped producing this top-grade mahjong set a couple of years ago. Even before it went out of production it had become something of a legend because of the intricate ivory-effect striations that run just beneath the surface of the tile faces.
The production technique is highly sophisticated and the tiles are a little less robust than standard Japanese mahjong tiles because of the shell-like quality of the surface layer.
New sets used to sell for around $300 on the Internet. This set has been well used and some of the tiles have small hairline cracks along the backs, but the set is perfectly playable and is a highly desirable and difficult to obtain set as very few of them appear on the secondary market.
The set includes 144 tiles and features:
* 4 Season tiles
* 2 "Red Coin" bonus tiles with "jewels".
* 1 Table Wind tessera
* 2 dice
* Scoring tallies
* Scoring chips
* Baize Storage trays
* Baize Carrying case with Nintendo logo in Japanese on the inside
Tile dimensions: 25mm x 18mm x 15mm.
