Bonsai with Hammered Leaves, wire tree sculpture, by Sal Villano
20"H x 14"W x 13"D Created using 24 & 26 gauge galvanized steel wire. The end of each twig is hammered flat to create a flat leaf which gives the tree a very full appearance. The tree sits on a mound made of sea sand many assorted pebbles and rocks. The sea sand and pebbles are painted in yellows and greens using India ink, which will not fade and gives the appearance of moss covered earth. The piece is planted on a 6.5 inch round antique solid wood base, with hand cut openings on the sides. It was made in Japan.
SHIPPING INFORMATION... HOW I SHIP MY WIRE TREE SCULPTURE
The way I ship my tree sculpture is by using a "box within a box". If the sculpture is 8" x 8" x 8", I wire the tree onto the inside bottom of a box that is a least 10" x 10" x 10". The tree sculpture is secured into the center on the bottom of this inner box so that none of the branches ever touch any of the sides or inside top of this box. The inner box is then sealed and put into another larger outer box and bubble wrap is placed around all sides, top and bottom of the box with the tree sculpture in it. I have been told by some of my customers that boxes have arrived upside down and battered however, due to the cushioning around all sides of the inner box, the sculpture arrives safe and sound. I have shipped thousands of tree sculptures of all sizes, as far away as Japan and Egypt, using the method and I have never had any problems or any sculpture returned or damaged.
