Transporting hot, hot dogs
Next time you want to feed a bunch of kids at a picnic, try this. In a wide-mouthed one- or two-gallon thermal jug, put as many fully cooked hot dogs as you think you'll need (straight out of the package). Carefully pour boiling water over them to fill the jug. This will get the hot dogs hot and keep them that way for a couple of hours. Bring buns, ketchup and mustard, and you've got an easy, popular meal for your group.
Adding Oil to Pasta Water
When cooking pasta it is not necessary to add oil to the water. The oil stays mainly on the surface and adds little to the taste. Also, pasta should be rinsed to remove undesirable starchiness. This removes the oil. Oil can be, however, tossed with rinsed pasta to prevent it from sticking together.
