The Poem on the poster: “To Touch the Ear of God”
Among the heavens I feel so small,
So helpless and frail and yet so tall.
In the challenges of the day,
I fall upon my knees and pray.
Quietly, with my eyes closed tight,
I stretch myself beyond my height,
To touch the holy ear of God.
I ask for things no matter how odd.
Who am I, that I bend His ear,
And ask Him if He would draw near?
Who am I, that He should hear my words,
Although He cares for the smallest birds.
Even so I make my solemn plea,
To ask for peace and find some mercy
To find refuge where angels trod,
I touch the holy ear of God
While others think my thought absurd,
I find some hope my prayer is heard.
Could He hear my desperate plea?
Why should I find He answers me?
I bow my head and wonder why,
I’m reassured He hears my cry.
With His caring smile, I see Him nod,
As I touch the holy ear of God.
To fly with angels above it all,
And see that I am so very small,
And yet when I fall down to pray,
I am taller than words can say.
What mighty wonders do I see,
When I reach higher than the trees?
When reaching for His mercy rod,
I touch the holy ear of God.
To slip beyond the bonds of earth,
And see how lowly is our birth,
What wonders the astronauts must see,
When they fly among the stars so free.
I whisper once again my prayer,
Pouring out my pain and despair.
Peace comes, my worries being shod,
As I have touched the ear of God.
