The newer color schemes on the display are really nice. They enable you to select the color scheme that works the best for you. Works pretty much as all the past Sportsters did. There are some changes in the way you preview channels, but I still don't find any trouble finding something I want to listen to. Being a Stern fan, I do spend a lot of time on Howard's channels. (I'm a professional driver) When I get tired of the day's program, I can easily find something else to listen to. I have owned about a dozen radios. When this product arrived in 2008 I immediately jumped from my Sportster 4 to the 5. Here we are in 2013 and my unit is still in perfect working order. I have had my Sportster 5 in 4 different vehicles with every connection type possible. My first installation was through just simply the on board FM transmitter. Works great if you live in the middle of nowhere with no other radio out there. Then i moved to using one of those delightful junk tape deck auxiliary connectors. That sounded better but I still wasn't happy. I then moved over to the FM Direct connect. This sounded great! I highly recommend it to anyone with out an Auxiliary input. Once i bought a car with a factory installed auxiliary input I hooked the system up through that. Still sounds just as good if not a little better! The screen can be made moderately dim or super bright, you can change the display colors to match your car interior or even just your mood. The display letters are a perfect size as well is the unit. It isn't too big or too small and it packs everything you would ever need to make your SIRIUS listening experience an absolute delight. I have been listening commercial free since 2005, became a lifetime member in 2007, and I highly recommend this unit to anyone wanting to make the jump into commercial free music! Don't do what I did and buy a whole bunch of individual radios trying to find the best one. Just buy the best! The Sportster 5.
