This very rare coin is Graded at an impressive MS 66+ PCGS Cert #7144.66+/25028127, This is a remarkable Carson City Morgan with outstanding luster that glides across nearly flawless silver surfaces. It has been awarded the rare "Plus" Grade from PCGS, indicating that they felt it was a particularly high quality coin. It looks better than many you will see rated MS67. , 90% silver, 10% copper, 0.77344 troy ounces of pure silver, 26.73g, 1,204,000 minted, According to Q. David Bowers, the Federal government stopped paying out silver dollars in March 1964, although more than a million pieces remained in Treasury holdings. These were inventoried, and it turned out that many of these were Uncirculated 1883-CC examples. Those pieces were eventually dispersed in a series of GSA auctions, held between October 1972 and February 1980. Today, if a GSA dollar is sighted on the bourse floor, the chances are it will be a Carson City issue struck between 1882 and 1884.
